What to Look for when Buying Used Fur

If you want to look stylish and elegant throughout the cold winter season, fur coats should be your go-to fashion item. These days, not all fur outfits come with hefty price tags as some companies now offer quality but affordable used fur items. Here are some tips for getting used fur coats or accessories:

Research

Research is always key in buying quality products, and it's the same when buying used furs as well. Head on over to your local fur store and get a feel of the merchandise. Examine the real fur ones and the synthetic ones. You should be able to distinguish between the two to make sure that you are getting your money's worth.

Verify

Most fur clothing shops should have sufficient information about the coats that they have in stock, regardless if it’s brand new or used. Ask for the type of fur and when it was made (if that information is available). You should always look for signs of damage or unsightly marks on the coats or jackets.

Do a shedding test

Bring two shirts or pieces of cloth to the store, one light colored (preferably white) and one dark. If you’re looking to buy a dark coat, rub it on the surface of the light-colored shirt, and vice versa. This should help you look for any signs that the coat might be shedding.
